A leading player in the maritime sector is seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Portsmouth. This role offers a unique chance to work on cutting-edge innovative engineering projects within the maritime industry, focusing on system design and applications. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be at the forefront of innovation, contributing to the development of advanced maritime systems.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems tailored to maritime applications. You will work closely with a team of engineers and project managers to ensure that all designs meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance. Your expertise in system design and high voltage (desirable only) will be crucial in delivering solutions that push the boundaries of maritime technology.
Your duties as the Electrical Design Engineer will be varied; however, the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Designing and developing electrical systems for maritime applications.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success.
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Providing technical support and troubleshooting for electrical systems.
- Participating in design reviews and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Preparing detailed technical documentation and reports.
- Overseeing the installation and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Conducting risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Keeping up-to-date with the latest advancements in electrical engineering and maritime technology.
Skills / Experience
- 2/3+ Years relevant industry experience
- Relevant degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven industry experience in the maritime sector (desirable but not essential)
- A working knowledge and practical experience with high voltage systems (desirable but not essential)
- Strong understanding of system design principles. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance
